The pulse pounding synth hellscape of this piece of work is one that draws you into it’s reaper’s grasp and never really lets you go. From the jazzy, cyberpunk-like melodies that just drown you in a dystopian rainfall, to the heart-pounding rock anthems that will have you banging your head, DEADBOLT is an album that will never really let you go once it stops spinning 33 & 1/3 revolutions per minute.

Composed by Chris Christodoulou, the mastermind behind Risk of Rain, comes DEADBOLT. The sweet jazz-like intro lures you in with an almost dreamlike sequence; the pulsing bass swallows you down into a deathly embrace of a melodic and soloing guitar. Before you know what’s happening, you are engulfed into a symphony of bass, percussion, and guitar all fighting for control over your ear drums. The smoothness of Chris’ writing makes you feel right at home. A slight departure from his previous works, this album has all the creative flair and genius of a composer that exudes brilliance. He takes no prisoner reeling in and forcing as much creativity and art as he can into every beat per minute.

Dust to absolute dust. This record pressed by Black Screen Records is definitely not one that should be missed. Whether you are a fan of the wonderful game Hopoo Games has created or not, you owe it to yourself to own this piece of gaming history. The amount of love that went into the creation of this record matches the creativity and passion Chris poured into his music. This type of dedication and respect to the composer, developer, and fans, shows us all again why you should own everything Black Screen Records puts their hands on.
